More Fun at Brookwood!
|
|
One of the next
horses that I enjoyed riding is Briggs. He's a big
Thoroughbred gelding that belonged to my trainer.
At the time he was coming back after a long lay-off
and needed some rides. He also had much to teach
me! On Briggs I really started learning about "leg
to hand"..."outside rein"... and getting a correct
bend. Because he responded properly it was easier
for me to really see what it was I was supposed to
be learning. I benefited a lot from the lessons I
took on him. What I learned on him I could take
back and work with on my own horse.

I LOVED to jump
Briggs!
He was so much fun!

Briggs and I spent a
lot of time trail riding too. We always had a good
time out there together. He was so interested in
everything! I think he liked going out as much as I
did.

Look at this handsome
guy! This is Topper...another Thoroughbred gelding.
He belongs to Brookwood. He was needing some rides
to get him going again after having had a few
months off and I was lucky enough to be a part of
that. He's sensitive boy with a strong
personality...but it turns out that he's much more
patient than any of us would have imagined. He did,
then, work his way into the schooling
string.

I really enjoyed riding Topper!

Sebastian was a big,
kind, wise, and patient thoroughbred. I started
riding him when they wanted him to get some
exercise. I had some really great lessons on him!
He had so much to offer that he, like Topper,
worked his way into the school string.

Because Sebastian was so
special,he had many admirers at Brookwood.
Everyone was very saddened when he was lost to colic
complications.

Here's one of my favorite
photos!

Oh...I just had to
include Hershey! She was the cutest little Welsh!
She came into Brookwood on trial...to see if she
would be suitable for a client or if she may work
in the schooling string. She was a project for
several weeks! As badly as we wanted her to work
out, her endless energy made her just "too much
horse" for her intended riders. She had action and
athleticism...it was hard to say goodbye to this
very cool pony!
