ANDREW!

Andrew!

...come and meet this cute boy!

My second horse was "Hurricane Andrew"...Andrew to friends and family.  He's a 1992 Appaloosa gelding.  His sire is "Mighty Andrew...his grand-sire is Impressive Andrew.  He's a funny boy with a lot of personality.  He's opinionated and curious.  He can't stand it if he can't have his nose right in the middle of anything that's going on around him.  He loves attention!  My mom used to tell everyone that he's a "lap horse" and that he's "going on two!" We all agree that if he were a human boy he's the type that would wear his baseball cap backwards and pull little girls' pigtails! If they were choosing up sides for a game he'd be the one jumping up and down shouting "pick me...pick me!"

Andrew and Kate

Andrew was formerly a a little Western horse doing well in the area shows.  He was transformed into a hunter!  He seemed to have the natural athletic ability for this career change.  Even though he was a bit lazy sometimes I think he enjoyed the challenge of learning something new.  We also took some dressage lessons together.

and I on course at Octoberfest.

Andrew and I had a good time at Octoberfest. It was the biggest show, to date, that I had gone to, and it was fun bringing Andrew. He was a little nervous and unsure of himself...but he settled down and we had a good time!

That cute face!

How could you not love that face?

I think that most of all he liked hangin' out and leaning on my dad while he watched the show! Andrew leaning on my dad

the look!

I will forever miss the face of this "happy appy!" I may never own a horse with as much personality again! He could occasionally be difficult but he more than made up for it by being so much fun. He was a horse you could have a conversation with...or play tag with in his paddock! It did, however, become painfully clear that Andrew was not the horse I needed to do the things I wanted to.

If it had been possible we would have kept him, but because we board it was financially out of the question. Andrew was eventually and regretfully replaced. He's currently spending his time with someone involved in the the 4-H program! I had the opportunity to see him at a summer, 2001, 4-H show!

Andrew & Kristen

Here's a picture I snapped of him with Kristen, his owner, shortly before their showmanship class (They earned a blue). Look how shiny and well groomed he is! As you can see he's roaned out a bit. He's happy, loved and well cared for.
